The national landscape of Finland can be admired from the peaks of Koli National Park. Ukko-Koli, where the view can be seen, is reachable with 10-minute walking distance.

Day hikes are loop routes or trails leading to the peaks of Koli. The national park can also be explored by hiking the Herajärvi trail over several days, in case you are looking for a challenge in the various landscapes of the region.

Koli Nature Center Ukko has a permanent exhibition, changing art exhibitions, souvenir shop and guidance for hikers available throughout the year.

The Bomba House and Karelian Village are located in Nurmes, North Karelia. This destination is a great example of Karelian architecture, where the log houses are decorated in the traditional style with carvings and ornamental paintings. The area also has a tsasouna and a souvenir shop with local products and handicrafts.

Bomba House offers traditional Karelian foods and modern flavor combinations. The new Kalevala: The Story of Kullervo movie also filmed in Bomba area and you can now visit the movie set.

Valamo monastery is an Orthodox culture center, serving visitors throughout the year. The monastery atmosphere and the surroundings are very peaceful and you can also meet the monks around the monastery yard.

The Monastery also has a restaurant and shop selling for example Valamo Winery products as well as local handicrafts and other products.

The Lintula convent is located 15 minutes drive away from Valamo and is open for tourists during the summer time. The convent's guest house, gift shop and coffee shop welcome you from June to August.

Parppeinvaara Rune Singer's Village is located in Ilomantsi. A beautiful view of the horizon can be admired from the yard. At the exhibitions one can learn more about the connection between human and nature, Karelian history, war history and the traditional Karelian cabin atmosphere with Finnish zither playing.

At Parppeinvaara you can try the Karelian traditional food at restaurant Parppeinpirtti, including the iconic Karelian pies.

Möhkö Ironworks is also located close by, showcasing the history of ironworks in the area.

The Outokumpu Old Mine is a unique attraction in Outokumpu, where you can learn more about the history of mining in the area in the museum. There is also an opportunity to explore a real mining tunnel, that is open for tourists. 

For families, there is the Children's Mine - the largest playground in Eastern Finland, making it a very exciting time to visit for the small ones of the family as well!
